Variations sur tablettes d'argiles, 2023.

           Je ne suis heureusement pas le seul artiste à mettre en relation l'art et l'archéologie. Il est intéressant de voir que nous sommes plusieurs à avoir instinctivement travaillé.e. sur la mise en tension entre ce procédé ancien (les tablettes d'argile) et des composants numériques issus d'appareils technologiques modernes. Ces variations d'un même thème, si j'ose emprunter ce terme musical, sont très intéressantes d'un point de vue anthropologique. Avec les mêmes outils, les mêmes capacités cognitives et les mêmes contraintes physiques et les mêmes influences, nous finissons presque toujours par réaliser, globalement, les mêmes artefacts avec d'infimes singularités. Un peu comme, des variations de contes venus de la nuit des temps, ricochent au fil des époques, nos œuvres en tant qu'artistes ne sont que des variations d'un même écho qui fut, qui est et qui sera longtemps après nous.

          Fortunately, I am not the only artist to connect art and archaeology. It is interesting to see that several of us have instinctively worked on creating tension between this ancient process (clay tablets) and digital components from modern technological devices. These variations of the same theme, if I dare borrow this musical term, are very interesting from an anthropological point of view. With the same tools, the same cognitive capacities and the same physical constraints and the same influences, we almost always end up creating, overall, the same artifacts with tiny singularities. A bit like variations of tales from the dawn of time, ricocheting through the ages, our works as artists are only variations of the same echo which was, which is and which will be long after us.
